I have one primary question for the Packet Pusher’s community regarding the newly announced CCIE Data Center track: Who’s in?
The beta CCIE Data Center written tests are available (mine is scheduled for a week from now), schedule at a PearsonVUE near you (they’ve gotten a bit better in Portland, btw). Non-beta written tests and labs will be available in September.
I think the CCIE DC track is long over due. There’s a segment of the networking world that was fairly underserved I think, in terms of certification. Personally, I would like the affirmation of skills and knowledge-cramming that pursing and obtaining a CCIE would bestow. However, other than storage, there aren’t any data center career certifications (a couple of relatively easy and obscure specializations).
So my question is, who’s in?
And if you’re in, which areas do you think you’re least prepared for? The CCIE track covers a couple of fairly different technologies:
- Cisco MDS/Fibre Channel
- Cisco ACE/load balancing
- Cisco UCS/server and blade infrastructure
- Nexus 7000
- Nexus 5000/2000
- Nexus 1000v (virtual switch)
