Hey, I’m a Packet Pusher! I’m starting today as employee number 1.
Greg and Ethan have built an avid community of listeners, readers, and contributors on this website and now it’s time to start pushing to the next level.
I’ve been covering the tech industry for 17 years as a reporter, editor, and most recently as Director of Content & Community at Interop. Now I’ll write here on the Packet Pushers website and continue hosting the Network Break podcast.
In the next few months I’ll be building contributions to get more content out there. I aim to help grow the audience, develop new content and business opportunities, and make it easier for Greg and Ethan to do what they do best: talk and write about tech.
I’ve worked with Greg and Ethan in various roles for the past three years. Our relationship started when I was editor in chief at Network Computing, where Greg and Ethan were contributors. It continued at Interop where Greg and Ethan are featured speakers (and for Ethan, the Infrastructure Track Chair).
And last year, Greg approached me about starting up the Network Break podcast. It was an experiment to see if there was an appetite for analysis of big stories and trends in the tech industry. It started modestly on the Community channel, but thanks to our listeners has grown to be a featured podcast on the main page—with 39 episodes and counting!
If you read their blogs or listen to the shows, you know Ethan and Greg are smart, opinionated, and have a sense of humor (the jury is out on whether it’s a good sense of humor).
In working with this pair over the past three years, I’ve also learned they’re good people—honest, straightforward, hardworking, and dedicated to creating content that’s intelligent, useful, and takes a stand.
Those are excellent traits to have in coworkers, and I’m pleased and excited they want to add my skills to theirs and see just how far we can go.
