Outside of work, where do you interact with other IT professionals the most? Before you answer “Slack” or “StarCraft” or other mediated environments, this is about communicating with human beings in person, face to face.
That’s the survey question from our most recent issue of the Human Infrastructure magazine.
I suppose it shouldn’t be surprising in an industry known for attracting introverts that a plurality of respondents (33%) chose the “I’m pretty solitary” option.
As for actually interacting with other people in real time and face to face, the local meetup/user group was the most popular of options at 23%.
Conferences (both national and regional combined) accounted for another 20.5%, while just around 10% get their interpersonal interactions via random encounters.
