Last week’s Amazon S3 outage had widespread effects. CNN reported that hundreds of thousands of websites were affected during the approximately 4-hour window that the cloud service was unavailable.
The outage may also have generated a similar number of news stories and social media posts. It’s human nature to enjoy seeing a giant stumble. It’s also human nature, especially for tech types, to scold those who put all their eggs in Amazon’s basket.
