Your data center is on fire. What do you do next? That was the question in our latest Quick Survey in our Human Infrastructure newsletter (which comes free with a Packet Pushers membership).
As you can see from the response options, we had a little fun with this one:
A. Hit the Halon suppression so you have time to get out?
B. Be cool and relaxed while posting photos on Twitter?
C. Start messaging your ‘squad’ and planning a blowout weekend now that the network upgrade is cancelled?
D. Look for flammable materials to throw on top to make sure everything burns so you can finally upgrade the network properly?
Here’s the results:
Just over half of respondents (51%) are willing to stoke the fire to force a data center upgrade. If you didn’t start the fire, but you did feed it, does that still count as arson?
Another 23% said they would head for the exits after hitting the fire suppression system, which seems like the most sensible response.
