Automation, scripting, and programmability are beginning to play a greater role in networking, so we asked readers of the Packet Pushers’ Human Infrastructure magazine which tool, language, or framework they were most interested in learning. Here’s the results of our survey.
Python topped the list with 44% of respondents. Ansible was a close second at 37%.
As you can see from the chart, responses dropped precipitously for the other options provided; nothing else even cracked 10%.
Of course, this is just a snapshot based on a single-question survey with 54 respondents. As a data point the starkness of the results are intriguing, but I’d like to see a broader survey that has a greater number of respondents and more questions to get a better idea of where the industry’s interests lay.
