LiveAction has announced version 8.0 of LiveNX, its Network Performance Management (NPM) software. LiveNX uses flow records and SNMP data to visualize and monitor network traffic.
The 8.0 release integrates the ability to analyze captured packets via the company’s acquisition of Savvius. Savvius makes packet capture appliances and the Omnipeek protocol analyzer software.
“Savvius does a great job with packets, which we didn’t really do,” said Darren Kimura, LiveAction’s Vice Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer. “Now we capture all different data sources, and we can drill down to the actual packet.”
That means network engineers analyzing flow and SNMP data in LiveNX can cross-launch into Omnipeek if a particular flow or event warrants more detailed analysis at the packet level.
LiveAction has also rebranded Savvius’s Insight product as LiveWire. LiveWire is a small appliance intended for branch or point-of-sale deployments. LiveWire captures packets in real time, and then exports packet metadata to LiveNX for performance monitoring.
LiveAction positions LiveWire for use cases such as monitoring VoIP and video communication quality, troubleshooting issues such as jitter and delay, and performing forensic analysis on captured packets.
LiveNX 8 and LiveWire are available now.
