Packet Pushers is a big part of Greg’s & Ethan’s lives and the show is continuing to grow in 2014.
We learn a lot, laugh a lot, and work hard to bring you the show every week and fresh content on the blog site. Despite enjoying editing and writing along with producing the podcast, the fact is that Packet Pushers has become a second job for us. We need to attract sponsors who will pay us money thus helping (bribing?) our spouses to understand the point of it all.
This means that vendors ask us hard questions about our audience. Questions like, “Do you have survey data?”, “What type of people listen?” and “What type of work do your listeners do?” While we don’t love it, we need to work with this type of legacy marketing to pursue our dream of riding unicorns around the Internet in a chariot made from virtual whiteboards.
We’ve tried to keep the survey short. The questions are mostly based on approved advertising standards…which are very boring. Therefore, we have added some “fun” bits here and there to lighten up the somber mood. So, please join in the fun but treat the serious questions as serious.
This year, in addition to the normal statistical stuff, we want our community to help us decide whether building out a premium (paid) content area makes sense. It’s a big deal if we offer this service – lots of work involved. Therefore, we need to know if any of you are going to care.
Thanks to all of you that listen to the show, chat with us in IRC, contribute to the blog, and otherwise take part in the Packet Pushers community.
