HP Networking’s Juliano Forti & Chris Young talk with Greg Ferro and Ethan Banks about how HP handles BYOD through integration with HP’s Intelligent Management Center platform.
HP Explains the Solution
The bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend has arrived; and it is here to stay. BYOD has become a way for companies to reduce costs and increase the productivity by allowing users to leverage their own devices for business purposes. BYOD really means allowing personal devices to connect to the corporate network, but this does not mean that users can connect theirr own device and run their applications without control. Access control and policies must be applied BYOD poses challenges for IT administrators looking to tackle security, governance, and network management when employees are allowed to use their own personal devices on the corporate network.
Traditional architecture has resulted in wired and wireless networks with very different requirements. The new wave of “prosumers” will not accept this tiered access and expects the same level of access to service independently of where, how, or when they are accessing the network. Companies are investing to transform the network, consolidating the wired and wireless as unified managed network, while simultaneously allowing the network to be more responsive to business needs with simplicity and seamless access to the users.
An effective BYOD solution should deliver an access-agnostic solution that leverages a universal security and compliance policy across wired and wireless devices, while reducing the IT burden with an easy-to-use self-registration process. It should also integrate with your current infrastructure management tools to ease deployment. In addition, you require a solution that provides adequate visibility of network traffic and application usage for capacity planning and compliance reporting.
The HP BYOD solutions are based on the HP Intelligent Management Center platform that delivers single-pane-of-glass management with complete visibility across the entire enterprise network resulting in a complete, unified approach to solving BYOD challenges.
