Time for something different! We are recording a live PacketPushers show in New York during the ONUG conference on Wednesday May 13th at 7PM. – Sign up here.
Software Defined WAN in Real World
Ethan & Greg will be moderating a discussion about SD-WAN in an ONUG after hours session on May 13, 2015. The format is food and a live podcast with network architects from big companies such as VISA, Gap and Bloomberg with topics on real world SD-WAN and discussing the issues around deployment, design and outcomes for their companies.
If you’re in town for ONUG or just in the NYC area, join us to see us record a show and have a Packet Pushers style discussion on SD-WAN. The event is hosted by Viptela, an SD-WAN company and the space is limited (hey, its New York!!), so you need to register. Greg and Ethan enjoy networking in meatspace, so we hope to see you there. Just think…you’ll be able to tell us we are wrong in person! 😉
We are looking to discuss the following topics:
What are we looking for in a new WAN ?
The WAN hasn’t changed much in 20 years. Get a circuit, router and run some OSPF. Fiddle around with some traffic shaping and path failover. Right ? Isn’t it time we start doing more with the vast amount of money spent on those static WAN connections ? In 2015, why can’t we load balance different traffic types over LTE, Wireless, Internet and private WAN connections ?
In this section we will talk with network architects who have been working with SDN WAN solutinons and dramatically changing the way the WAN works for performance, agility, and safety.

Misconceptions in Software Defined WAN architectures
Software Defined Networking has been constantly evolving over the last 5 years and this rapid change creates misunderstanding. Discussing common areas of confusion or topics that need an airing.
